Celebrate Valentine's Day by getting pungent...

To celebrate Valentine's day, we are offering our FAVORITE
street delicacy...
It's pungent and spicy, but totally delicious and will make you feel awesome.

KAO KLUK GAPI | SHRIMP PASTE RICE

$ 16

Jasmine rice seasoned with gapi (shrimp paste), served with the following 'toppings':
Candied pork, shredded kai jiew egg omelette, dried shrimp, shredded green mango,
lemongrass, raw shallots, lime and cucumber.

What's cool about the dish is that you can add any number of accoutrements beyond the traditional ones listed above, so we're offering it alongside a full a la carte menu.

We'd suggest you order some sai krok isaan (fermented pork sausage), kiew wan oxtail, raw oysters or bbq pork collar to go with it.

And while this dish is VERY un-Valentine's day, the wine we'd pair it with is VERY Valentiney...

Il Frappato, Valle Dell'Acate, Sicily '09
this varietal bottling of the native sicilian grape, frappato, is a light to medium-bodied,
cherry-smacked mediterranean-breezed whimsical number that is perhaps the antidote to all the pungent depth of the kao kluk gapi.

New LA Charter School

Last Friday, I was asked to speak at the New LA Charter School. It was an awesome experience! The kids asked me what my favorite dish to prepare was and they were blown away when I told them it was Fried Chicken & Salsa, Northern Thai-style. Here are some pix:
